MT. ADAMS
Resource Stewards
A $250,000 loan to Mt. Adams Resource Stewards allowed them to close on 800 acres as a major addition to their existing Community Forest.
In September of 2023, MARS completed its largest community forest purchase yet: the 800-acre South Conboy Tract that lies adjacent to Conboy Lake National Wildlife Refuge on the BZ-Glenwood Highway. The tract represents some of the most productive tree growing ground within the Mt. Adams Community Forest ownership, while also presenting recreational opportunities, such as hiking and hunting when in-season. MARS is now working with the local community to develop a detailed management plan for the property.
“Working with the Washington Opportunity Fund was truly wonderful. Not only did they help us get an important land acquisition across the finish line, but there was a genuine sense that we were all working toward the same goal of conserving important lands in Washington. We greatly appreciated the efficiency, friendly interaction...and ultimately, the celebration that the WOF facilitated by bringing critical capital to bear at just the right moment! Thank you!”
