Holmes Harbor Community Forest

Whidbey Island, WA

In July, 2025, the Opportunity Fund loaned Whidbey Camano Land Trust $500,000 to add 70 acres to the Holmes Harbor Community Forest.

The Whidbey Camano Land Trust has ambitions to conserve at least 1,000 acres of contiguous forest on South Whidbey Island – The Holmes Harbor Community Forest.
The new Community Forest is expanding from 370 acres of previously conserved land with newly protected properties. Over the past year the Land Trust added 180 acres,  including a critical 70 acres just this August, with assistance from the Washington Opportunity Fund.
The burgeoning Holmes Harbor Community Forest currently stands at 550 acres, with another 40 acres set tobe added by the end of 2025, that will serve as the main visitor parking and trailhead.
